The Watertown Police Department Investigative Services Unit is advising Watertown residents.  To ensure that their homes are locked and secured, as the department is investigating four recent similarly perpetrated larceny incidents in which jewelry and/or cash were stolen from four dwellings in town.

It is believed that individual(s) entered into these homes through unlocked doors while the residents were either away from their home for a short period of time, or, on one instance, working in the yard of a particular victimized dwelling.

These incidents occurred in the following neighborhoods on the following dates:

In the Fern Hill Road area on either Tuesday, June 27, 2000 or Wednesday, June 28, 2000
Park Road and Chimney Road area on Friday, June 30, 2000
Buckingham Street in the area of Fire Department - Company 2 on Saturday, July 1, 2000
or on Sunday, July 2,2000.

Investigators believe that these incidents were extremely "neat" crimes, in which the loss of jewelry and/or cash was not discovered up until a day later.

By citizens observing suspicious activity in these neighborhoods or other neighborhoods in the town of Watertown are asked to call the Watertown Police Department promptly. Of course, if such a crime is believed to be occurring in progress, dial 911 for a quick police response.

Any residents who may have observed any suspicious individuals or vehicles in the vicinity of the four locales described above, are asked to call Watertown Police headquarters at 860-945-5200 or Water-Oak Crime Stoppers at 860-945-9940. All pertinent information will be kept confidential on the caller's request, with rewards to be provided by Crime Stoppers for any viable information leading to the identity and conviction of those involved in these or other crimes.
